Management and search and selection – Fundraising for US$ 330 million for the first “stand-alone destination” in Oman, comprising 5 hotels with a total of 1,150 rooms, one 18-hole golf course, water park, entertainment, shopping, private villas, etc. This task included the selection, short-listing and pre-qualification of potential management companies, evaluating and negotiating their terms and conditions

TURNAROUND

525-keys 5-star hotel,
New Delhi, India

Turn-around management. With a budget of US$ 25 million, refurbished and re-launched this rundown property and regain the leading position within its competitive set. This included change of F&B concepts and other major shifts of outlets. Achieved 64% GOP compared to 25% before this turn-around.

Turnaround of distressed hotels,
Germany

Turn-around management of various distressed or bankrupt hotels in Germany in the range of 100-200 rooms. Clients were mostly the financing banks and the aim was to sell the hotels with profit after a successful turn-around

Turnaround of distressed 5-star hotel,
Thailand

Conceptualizing the turn-around of a 5 star hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The hotel during its 5 year existance never reached an occupancy of more than 50 % annually. Achieved the turn around by introducing an extensive Beauty and Health Farm with cosmetic/aestethic surgery for Bangkok’s elite. This boosted occupancy levels during the rainy season from below 20% to over 80% and brought the hotel for its first time to profitabilty.

Prepared a Boutique Resort concept for a shared ownership model of 25 keys for the Expatriate Filipino community as their private investment
Sri Lanka and Maldives
Prepared a proposal to restructure and rebrand the existing hotel group in Sri Lanka; reviewed and commented on an existing concept for an upcoming resort project in the Maldives, revised the concept and introduced the proposals to Middle East investors for investment
Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE
Fundraising – 5-star deluxe hotel, updating feasibility study and preparing for a US$ 150 million fundraising to finish the project in 2011 after it stalled as a result of the 2008 economic crisis
